Immunicum has developed a cancer vaccine that won them SEK 10,000 at Venture Cup Väst (Venture Cup West), a business plan competition with the objective to stimulate entrepreneurship and to increase the founding of new companies in the western part of Sweden. The prize was given to the biotech company, in the best business idea in the product category. The vaccine is developed using white blood cells from healthy individuals, and will enter clinical trials this coming spring. There were 271 competitors in the Venture Cup, of which five received
awards in the product category.
Immunicum was founded in 2002 and began operations in September 2007. It focuses on, with partners, developing and selling vaccines for prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of cancer and infectious illnesses.
