För två månader sedan startades en fond som ger privatpersoner möjlighet att investera i de företagen inom Chalmers Innovations inkubatorverksamhet, en möjlighet som vanligtvis är förbehållen institutionella aktörer. Via Chalmers Innovation Affiliate Fund investeras medel i Chalmers Innovation Seed Fund, som i sin tur investerar i företag som är eller har varit verksamma vid Chalmers Innovation. Priset per aktie är 10 000 kronor och varje person måste köpa minst tio aktier var.
- Det har gått över förväntan. Det är över 100 personer, både från Sverige och utomlands, som har valt att investera i vår fond, säger Olle Stenberg.
Totalt har Chalmers Innovation Affiliate Fund nu tillförts 30 miljoner kronor. Parallellt med detta kommer Europeiska Investeringsfonden, som startade Chalmers Innovation Seed Fund för omkring ett år sedan, att tillföra lika mycket medel. Det innebär att Chalmers Innovation Seed Fund ökar sitt kapital från 110 miljoner kronor till 170 miljoner kronor. Övriga ägare i fonden är fonden är Europeiska Investeringsfonden, Sjätte AP-fonden, Länsförsäkringar, Stiftelsen Chalmers och Chalmers Innovation.
- Det känns extra viktigt i tider av nedläggningar och kärvt ekonomiskt klimat. Jag tror att det stora intresset till viss del beror på effekterna av den finansiella krisen. Många inser behovet av att skapa nya växande företag som kan erövra världen, säger Olle Stenberg.
