Både ämnesråden och rådet för forskningens infrastrukturer har fått nya ordföranden utsedda av Vetenskapsrådets styrelse. De utvalda personerna kommer nu att sitta som ordföranden i de olika ämnesråden fram till december 2012.
Till ämnesrådet för medicin och hälsa har Vetenskapsrådets styrelse valt ut Peter Lönnroth, som är adjungerad professor vid Sahlgrenska Akademin på Göteborgs universitet. Hans område är endokrinologi, där han är specialiserad på diabetes och metabolism med ett särskilt fokus på insulinresistens i muskel- och fettvävnad. Peter Lönnroth är även biträdande hälso- och sjukvårdsdirektör i Västra Götaland.
Rådet för forskningens infrastrukturer kommer under de kommande två åren att ledas av Kerstin Eliasson. Hon sitter i styrelserna för Europeiska kommissionens Joint Research Centre och för Axel Wenner-Grens Stiftelse för Internationellt Forskarutbyte. Kerstin Eliasson är också engagerad i Uppsala universitets internationella frågor. Hon har tidigare varit departementsråd vid Utbildningsdepartementets forskningspolitiska avdelning och statssekreterare på samma departement.
Övriga två ämnesråd har fått följande ordföranden:
Ämnesrådet för naturvetenskap och teknikvetenskap: Svante Björck är professor i kvartärgeologi på Geologiska institutionen vid Lunds universitet och i Kommittén för konstnärlig forskning och konstnärligt utvecklingsarbete är Cecilia Roos ny ordförande. Hon är professor i dansinterpretation vid Dans- och cirkushögskolan.
