Bolagens produkter är likvärdiga när det gäller att förebygga cancer i livmoderhalsen enligt SKL, men när sista budet var lagt i februari var Sanofi Pasteurs bud nästan en tredjedel dyrare än Glaxosmithkline, GSK:s. Avtalet som gick till GSK och deras preparat Ceravix gäller i två år med möjlighet till två års förlängning. GSK:s bud innebär en årlig kostnad på 31 miljoner kronor för att vaccinera flickor i årskurs fem och sex, medan Sanofis bud för vaccinet Gardasil låg på 47 miljoner kronor.
– Gardasil skyddar även mot kondylom vilket vi tagit hänsyn till, men upphandlingen gällde i första hand inte det, säger Bo Claesson som har arbetat med upphandlingen på SKL.
Båda bolagen har lämnat rabatter i kampen om det slutliga avtalet, men GSK:s Cervarix blev i slutänden billigare för SKL än konkurrentens bud.
