Tre forskare som arbetar med cancerepigenetik, utvecklingsbiologi samt cellers tillväxt och kommunikation får ta på sig doktorshatten på KI i början av maj. Fyra representanter från viktiga aktörer och finansiärer hedras också av KI vid ceremonin i Stockholms stadshus den sjunde maj.
Andrew P. Feinberg är epigenetiker, som har nischat sig på cancerepigenetik. På KI är han utländsk adjungerad professor och han har arbetat aktivt för att institutet ska bygga upp sitt Epicenter, en epigenetisk profileringsplattform vid Centrum för molekylär medicin.
Anthony Pawson forskar på hur celler växer och kommunicerar med varandra vid Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute i Kanada. Han har bedrivit delar av sin forskning inom KI sedan början av 2000-talet.
Irma Thesleff är professor vid Helsingfors universitet. Hon forskar kring organismers utveckling och tillväxt inom fältet utvecklingsbiologi. Hon har bland annat engagerat sig som rådgivare för KI och även tagit initiativ till ett antal nordiska symposier.
Stefan Persson har grundat Familjen Ehrling-Perssons stiftelse där han också sitter som ordförande. Genom stiftelsen har han bland annat bidragit till att Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship bildades.
För sitt arbete och engagemang genom Wallenbergstiftelserna blir Peter Wallenberg hedersdoktor på KI. Han hedras bland annat för att han har argumenterat för behovet av internationell och tvärvetenskaplig forskning.
Barbro Osher och Bernard Osher blir medicine hedersdoktorer vid KI för sitt breda engagemang i forskning och kultur. De har genom Barnard Oshers stiftelse bland annat bidragit till KI:s Osher centrum för integrativ medicin, med forskning i gränslandet mellan fysiologi och beteendevetenskap.
