Under 2009 gjordes 8,6 kliniska prövningar per läkemedelsföretag i Danmark. Det är nära en halvering i jämförelse jämfört med 2007 då det genomsnittliga antalet uppgick till 15,4. Det visar en rapport från den danska branschorganisationen för biotekniska företag, Dansk Biotek, i samarbete med den danska läkemedelsindustriföreningen, Lif.
Redan 2008 började antalet kliniska prövningar per företag sjunka. Då var det genomsnittliga antalet prövningar per företag var 10,9.
- Nedgången i antal kliniska prövningar beror på flera skäl, bland annat
på att företagens produktportfölj minskar och på grund av den tidigare finanskrisen. Konkurrensen har också ökat i Bric-nationerna, Brasilien, Ryssland, Indien och Kina, samt en del östeuropeiska länder, säger Ruth Klyver, administrativ chef på Dansk Biotek.
Rapporten visar också att färre anställda vid företagen arbetade med klinisk prövning under 2009 än tidigare år. Under 2007 arbetade i genomsnitt 9,5 personer per företag med klinisk prövning. Motsvarande siffra under 2008 var 7,5 och under 2009 hade antalet sjunkit till 6,26.
De externa kostnaderna som företagen lägger ner på klinisk prövning förefaller stabil mellan 2007-2009. De företag som svarade på enkäten för 2009 la i genomsnitt 1,33 miljoner kronor per klinisk prövning. Företagen som svarade 2007 hade externa utgifter på 1,18 miljoner kronor per klinisk prövning och motsvarande siffra för 2008 var 1,24 miljoner kronor.
Rapporten är en sammanställning av enkätsvar från 31 företag som är medlemmar i någon av branschorganisationerna. De företag som har medlemsskap i båda organisationerna har bara räknats en gång.
