- Det är den första utbildningen som kombinerar bioteknik och hållbarhet. Naturtillgångarna är inte bara begränsade då det gäller bränsle, utan det gäller även råmaterial till att producera plast, kemikalier och läkemedel. Under programmet kommer studenterna lära sig om allt från förnyelsebara råmaterial till hur miljön påverkas vid industriella processer. I år startar vi en masterutbildning, men planerar också en kandidatnivå till nästa år.
Brukar inte kandidatprogrammet starta före masternivån?
- Jo, så brukar det vara. Men för att vara behörig till att söka programmet bör studenterna ha en kandidatexamen i bioteknik, biokemi eller biologi och kan därför hämta ut en magisterexamen i hållbar bioteknik efter programmet.

- I år är tio studenter anmälda. Huvudsakligen kommer studenterna från Europa, men några kommer ända ifrån Kina och Indien. Det som är roligt är att flera av studenterna är anställda på företag som arbetar med bioteknik och som vill utveckla sin kunskap inom området. Vi har märkt att företagen efterfrågar den kompetensen eftersom de inte är så insatta i hållbarhet.
