Totalt sett har antalet projekt i klinisk fas minskat med 14 procent sedan 2010. I år rapporterade de 75 företagen som svarade på undersökningen att de hade 63 projekt i klinisk fas medan bolagen som svarade 2010 hade 73 projekt i klinik.
Cancer är det terapiområde inom vilket bolagen har flest projekt. Sedan 2008 har bolagen haft mellan 12-14 projekt i fas III inom cancer.
Akademin spelar fortfarande en viktig roll för svenska bioteknik-företag, men rapporten visar en ökning i antalet projekt som utvecklats innanför bolagets väggar. Under 2011 är nära hälften av pipeline-projekten utvecklade internt på bolagen.
Sweden Bio, Vinnova och Invest Sweden har sedan 2005 årligen gjort en genomgång av den svenska life science-industrins produktportföljer. I årets rapport har 75 deltagit i undersökningen
De bolag som är med i undersökningen utför alla forskning i Sverige.
Astrazeneca räknas inte med då de inte anger från vilket land projektet härstammar.
