Biotech Sweden har tidigare skrivit om Vinnova som hjälper nya företagare att söka pengar ur FP7, ett av EU:s alla forskningskonton. Men mer pengar finns att hämta. Förutom FP7 finns också Eurostars och Eniac, och många därtill. Men ansökningsprocesserna till de olika anslagsprogrammen kan vara klurig och nu har även CRO-bolagen klivit in på arenan och erbjuder startup-företagen hjälp med de krångliga processerna. Norska CRO-bolaget Smerud medical research är ett av de bolag som erbjuder rådgivning.
– Vi har ett starkt samarbete med akademin och en nära kontakt med forskare och startup-bolag. I och med att vi erbjuder fullkontrakt, hjälp från forskningsstadie till färdig produkt, så var det fullt naturligt att vi även skulle hjälpa till med att söka finansiering, säger bolagets grundare Knut Smerud.
| FP7. Projekt inom FP7 handlar framför allt om forskningssamarbete över nationsgränser och mellan olika forskargrupper. Tillsammans bildar de ett konsortium för att gemensamt arbeta med ett projekt. Budget: 50 miljarder euro. Period: 2007-2013. Eurostars är ett gemensamt program för EU-kommissionen och det europeiska samarbetsnätverket Eureka, som främst vänder sig till små och medelstora företag med egen forskning. Budget: 800 miljoner euro. Period: 2007-2013. Eniac är ett offentligt-privat partnerskap för forskning inom nanoelektroniksystem på europeisk nivå. Budget: 18 miljoner euro. |
Smerud medical research har under året hjälpt fem projekt att söka FP7-pengar. Av dessa har två projekt gått vidare till det andra steget i urvalsprocessen men tre fått nej.
– Vi har dessutom hjälpt två andra projekt att få pengar från Eurostars. Projekten är de första i Europa att få finansiering till kliniska prövningar, så det är jättekul, säger Knut Smerud.
För bara FP7 är potten på 50 miljarder euro. Så för de som lyckas med sin ansökan kan EU- pengarna innebära ett stort bidrag till forskningsbudgeten. Men konkurrensen är hård. Det gäller också att ansöka om pengar från rätt kassa. FP7-pengarna syftar till att finansiera forskning, men Eureka och Eurostars fokuserar mer på produktutveckling.
