- Jag ska i första hand prata om innovationer och innovativa tillämpningar inom oftalmologi, läran om ögat och dess sjukdomar.
Du var vd för Pharmacia då det begav sig, vad tycker du om företagsklimatet i Sverige?
- Företagsklimatet är bra. Det är ett entreprenörsvänligt samhälle som är framgångsrikt när det kommer till att ta innovationer till nästa steg och få ut dem på världsmarknaden. Den medicinska akademin är i världsklass och har bra kontakt med andra medicinska forskningsanläggningar, speciellt i USA. Andra starka sidor som finns i Sverige är lagarna, att det knappt förekommer korruption och att svenskarna är duktiga på engelska.
Vad tror du väntar life science-industin i framtiden?
- Life science-branschen kan vänta tre stora genombrott inom hälsa och friskvård framöver. Kunskap om hälsa blir bättre bland människorna, något som kommer att leda till en bättre livsstil. Vården kommer att fokusera mer och mer på att förebygga sjukdom och att ingripa tidigare i sjukdomsprocessen. Det kommer att bli vanligare med personaliserad diagnos och målinriktade behandlingar.
