Bioteknikföretaget Hansa Medical lägger ner sitt utvecklingsprojekt med läkemedelskandidaten anti-alpha-11 för behandling av ledgångsreumatism. Projektet har utvecklats i samarbete med det amerikanska bolaget Alere och befann sig innan nedläggningen i preklinisk fas. Anledningen till att projektet avslutats är att läkemedelskandidaten inte uppvisat proof-of-concept inom rimlig tid.
Istället lägger bolaget nu mer fokus på de två kvarvarande projekten, ides, ett enzym som utvecklats för behandling av särskilt känsliga patienter som står inför en njurtransplantation, och HMD-301, en produkt för diagnos av allvarlig blodförgiftning. I samband med att reumatismprojeket läggs ned meddelar Hansa Medical att de tar in ett nytt enzym i bolagets pipeline. Enzymet endos är en systermolekyl till ides och utvecklas för behandling av ovanliga autoimmuna sjukdomar.
För att få in extra finansiering till utvecklingsprojekten ides och endos vill Hansa Medical genomföra en garanterad företrädesemission och ta in totalt 46 miljoner kronor. Summan är garanterad genom Bengt Ågerups investmentbolag Nxt2b och Farstorp Invest med Bo Håkansson i spetsen. Aktieägarna kommer att ta ställning till emissionplanen vid ett extrainsatt bolagsmöte.
