Det danska läkemedelsbolaget Lundbeck säljer tre produkter ur bolagets portfölj till det amerikanska läkemedelsbolaget Akorns helägda dotterbolag Oak Pharmaceuticals. Genom avtalet får de amerikanska bolagen rätt att producera och sälja preparaten i USA och Lundbeck får rätt till en total ersättning på 60 miljoner dollar, motsvarande 411 miljoner kronor.
Samtliga läkemedel är godkända och används i den amerikanska sjukvården redan i dag. Mest känt av dessa är epilepsiläkemedlet Pentobarbital, ett narkosläkemedel som även används vid avrättningar av dödsdömda fångar i USA. Lundbeck har under det gångna året kämpat för att förhindra att läkemedlet används vid avrättningarna och i mitten av december i år fick de gehör hos EU som planerar att införa särskilda exportregler. De andra läkemedlen som Lundbeck säljer är blodtryckssänkaren och vätskedrivaren Sodium Diuri, och Parkinsonsläkemedlet Cogentin. De tre produkterna följde med då Lundbeck köpte upp det då amerikanska läkemedelsföretaget Ovation Pharmaceuticals under 2009.
Akorn kommer genom Oak Pharmaceuticals att ta över de tre produkterna med omedelbar verkan och kommer att rätta sig efter Lundbecks etiska krav vad gäller försäljning, skriver den danska nyhetssajten Business.dk.
Lundbeck säljer läkemedlen för att istället kunna fokusera på andra läkemedelskandidater. Bolaget får 45 miljoner dollar, motsvarande 308 miljoner kronor, i en förstagångsbetalning och har rätt till ytterligare 15 miljoner dollar, motsvarande 102 miljoner kronor, då vissa mål uppnås.
