Det svenska forskningsföretaget Sobi har tecknat ett globalt licensavtal med det franska läkemedelsbolaget Only For Children Pharmaceuticals. Genom avtalet får Sobi rätt att marknadsföra en ny formulering av substansen bumetanid för behandling av epitelptiska kramper hos nyfödda barn.
Only For Children Pharmaceuticals utvecklar en ny formulering av bumetanid, en substans som bland annat finns i Leo Pharmas vätskedrivande preparat Burinex, för behandling av rubbningar i vätske- och saltbalansen och epileptiska kramper hos nyfödda barn. Läkemedelskandidaten befinner sig i dag i klinisk fas II inom det EU-finansierade projektet Nemo.
Only For Children Pharmaceuticals ansvarar för tillverkningen av läkemedlet samt att det godkänns för att säljas på marknaden. Sobi betalade 300 000 euro, motsvarande 2,6 miljoner kronor, då avtalet tecknades och ger Only For Children Pharmaceuticals möjlighet på framtida milstolpsersättningar upp till 1,7 miljoner euro, motsvarande 15 miljoner kronor. Utöver detta har det franska bolaget rätt till royalties på framtida försäljningar.
Bolagen räknar med att kunna få ett marknadsgodkännande för läkemedelskandidaten under 2014.
