Forskningsbolaget Karo Bio presenterade i höstas kostnadsbesparingar som innebar att 25 anställda varslades om uppsägning. Efter fackliga förhandlingar har bolaget nu kommit fram till att 16 anställda sägs upp från bolaget.
- Vi ändrar sättet att arbeta och kommer att leja ut mer arbete framöver. Det innebär att vi även kommer att skära ner på andra kostnader än på personalen, säger bolagets vd Per Bengtsson.
Personalnedskärningarna kommer att sänka bolagets årliga kostnader med 17 miljoner kronor. Tjänsterna som försvinner är dels forskartjänster, men även tjänster i stödfunktioner.
Bland annat ryker några tjänster från eprotirome-projektet som lades ned förra veckan efter att oväntade biverkningar upptäckts.
- Det är enstaka personer i eprotirome-projektet som berörs, men det sker inte enbart med anledning av resultaten från förra veckan. I och med att projektet i år övergått i en ny fas var det bland annat tjänster som vi ändå planerat att säga upp, säger Per Bengtsson.
De anställda som arbetar inom forskningsprojektet med hormonreceptorn Rorgamma, som ingick samarbetsavtal med Pfizer i slutet av 2011, får vara kvar.
- Neddragningar har inte gjorts i projektet som drivs tillsammans med Pfizer, utan det rullar på som det ska.
Kommer det att ske några ytterligare nedskärningar efter nedläggningen av projektet med eprotirome?
- Vi ser över situationen och de alternativ som finns. Men det är för tidigt att säga, säger Per Bengtsson.
